Travel around the world this December, without leaving the library!
Curiosity Kids will offer a month-long learning adventure every Wednesday in December.
The interactive programs will be held after school on Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. in the Exploration Station in the Children’s Department for children grades K through 6.
Your travel adventure begins Wednesday, December 4th with a trip to Mexico! Celebrate Las Posadas while learning about piñatas, participating in a mini-parade, and enjoying some delicious tamales.
On Wednesday, December 11th travel to Sweden to celebrate Saint Lucia Day, work on Swedish crafts, and enjoy traditional Swedish foods such as cookies and breads.
The last leg of your tour takes place Wednesday, December 18th with a stop in Israel! Celebrate Hanukkah by learning the reason for the holiday, as well as the history of the Menorah and the Dreidel. You will also get to enjoy tasty homemade latkes!
Homeschool at the Library meets at 1:00 p.m. every Friday for children grades 1 through 6, will celebrate with similar Christmas parties of their own each week!
“These will be fun and interactive programs that we are really looking forward to hosting.” said Miss Lizzy. “It will be exciting to showcase how people and cultures celebrate Christmas around the world in their own different ways. There will be yummy and authentic ethnic food that people may not have been able to try before and fun games to play, all while learning about Christmas!”
