The Plymouth Public Library and the Marshall County Purdue Extension Office are working together this November to bring you exciting and new health-focused educational programs!

The first will be “Diabetes: Don’t let it Put Your Health in Jeopardy!”, and will be held Monday, November 4th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Laramore Meeting Room.

Nutrition and physical activity are keys to managing Type 2 Diabetes, but where do you start?  Karen Richey leads “Intro to Dining with Diabetes”, a class that introduces you to the basic steps of dining with Diabetes and how you can learn skills to promote good health.

This introductory class is for diabetics as well as those at risk for diabetes, along with their caregivers.  It also helpful for anyone interested learning more about Diabetes or those that are friends/family of a diabetic.

This will only be an introductory; if you want to learn more about Diabetes and nutrition, you can sign-up for Karen’s full program at the conclusion of this class.  There is no attendee limit for “Diabetes: Don’t let it Put Your Health in Jeopardy!”  Pre-register is recommended via email at stacyp@myplymouthlibrary.org but is not required.

Karen Richey is also leading two classes called “Cooking under Pressure.”

Programmable electric pressure cookers are the current popular appliance in home kitchens everywhere and if you are considering purchasing one, or already own one but have yet to take it out of the box, then this class is for you!

In either of these two classes you will learn about the features and benefits of pressure cookers, as well as how to safely operate them.  Recipe sources will be shared and some free food samples will be provided!  One Instant Pot will be given away, but you must attend one of the two classes in order to qualify to win, with the winner chosen after the second class is held.

The first class will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12th in the Makerspace.  The second class, provided for those who may be unable to attend the Noon class, will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14th in the Laramore Meeting Room.

Pre-register for “Cooking under Pressure” via email at krichey@purdue.edu before November 8th, as each class has a limit of 24 people and will fill up fast, along with limited supplies/free samples!  There will not be any sign-up at the library, only via email directly to Karen.
