Hello friends and neighbors! Thank you for making Curbside Pickup such a well-received new offering for the community. We are happy to continue this service, and are also happy to announce our next steps toward a safe reopening.
Our next steps will come in two phases and expand on services we have already been offering. We encourage the public to wear masks in the building, wash their hands when they arrive, and keep visits to a limited number of family members. This will help us keep everyone safe.
Monday, June 1st
We will offer expanded services by appointment only. You can schedule an appointment for the following services by calling (574) 936-2324 ext. 1. No browsing or checkouts will take place in the library at this time.
- Limited Computer Use– using laptops in the Laramore Meeting Rooms at the north end of the building. Arrive for your scheduled appointments at the north entrance. No printing and no hands-on help will take place at this time.
- Fax & Copy Services– Arrive at the south entrance for your pre-scheduled appointment.
- Notary Services– Arrive at the south entrance for your pre-scheduled appointment.
- Library Card Registration / Card Renewal – Arrive at the south entrance for your pre-scheduled appointment.
Monday, June 8th
We will open the library building to the public, with restrictions.
Please know that things will look different when you enter as we take initial steps and precautions to keep our patrons and staff safe. Our library staff will be wearing masks to protect the public and one another. We ask that you wear a mask if possible to help protect your neighbors and your library staff. Restrooms will be open for those who would like to wash their hands when they arrive, and we will have hand sanitizer throughout the building. We will practice social distancing and ask that everyone in the building do so as well.
During this limited opening, patrons are encouraged to “grab and go”, and limit their browsing to 30 minutes. While we love our families who visit, during this time, we ask that additional family members remain home. Several areas of the library will be closed to discourage lounging or playing. The Quiet Room, Fireplace Room, and all children’s play areas will be closed to the public. A limited number of computers will be available in the Computer Lab for limited amounts of time. Most of the tables and chairs have been removed throughout the building. Newspapers will not be available, but magazines will be available for checkout. Curbside Holds Pickup will continue for those who wish to use the service.
We are excited to be able to serve you in new ways, and ask for your patience and understanding as we do our best to open responsibly for the community.
Thank you and we’ll see you soon!
Heather Barron, Library Director
