Plymouth Public Library Update – May 6, 2020
When will the Library reopen?
The Library building remains closed to the public, but we have a phased reopening plan over the next several weeks. Our first priority is to keep our staff safe, and also to make sure that we have the safest possible setup for our patrons once we open our doors again. Governor Holcomb gave libraries allowances for reopening in a way that best fits their community. A limited reopening is our next phase in a few weeks. We have precautions that need to be put in place before we are ready to open to the public. Please continue to check our website and social media for updates.
Curbside Holds Pickup
We are happy to offer Curbside Holds Pickup during this time. It’s an easy process to get materials. 1) Place items on hold by logging in to your account at MyPlymouthLibrary.org or calling 574-936-2324 ext. 1007. 2) We call to let you know when the items are ready. 3) Pickup hours are: Mon-Fri: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Sat: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm park in one of the designated spots on the west side of the building and call the phone number listed on the sign. 4) We place the items in your trunk. Enjoy!
Returning Library materials
Yes, you can return your items! All materials must be returned in our book drop (hotspots must be returned in the drive-through window drop). All items are quarantined for 72 hours and then cleaned to ensure that they are safe for the staff to handle and for the next patron.
Items checked out before March 16th are not due until June 1st, but you may return them in the book drop any time. Items checked out with curbside service are due according to the due date slip with the materials.
*No donations can be accepted at this time.
What is available now?
You can use Curbside Holds Pickup for physical materials and hotspots. You can also log on to our website (MyPlymouthLibrary.org) for access to online courses and trainings, free language learning, and more. And don’t forget about the Hoopla and OverDrive apps. Hoopla allows you to stream movies, TV shows, and music. Both apps allow you to access e-books and e-audio. And if you miss staff-led library programming, check out our YouTube channel to view library programs from your device. New content is being created and added weekly.
Will the Library have a Summer Discovery program?
Yes! All ages will still be able to participate in PPL’s Summer Discovery program, which starts on June 1st. We will have information about registering toward the end of May. The program will look a little different this year. Reading will be tracked online (a link will be available on our website at MyPlymouthLibrary.org) and our live programs will be streamed online. We are working on grab-n-go crafts, activities, and our prize delivery system. Check our website and social media for updates later this month.
Thank you for your patience!
We are so grateful to our community for being understanding as we continue to work to bring you new services in new ways. Please check our website and social media for updates.
Take care as we get through this together!
