It’s October! Fall has officially arrived and it is time for bonfires, hooded sweatshirts, pumpkin spice everything…and new and exciting events happening at your library!
PPL has multiple adult events taking place throughout the month of October, just for you!
On Thursday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m. in the Makerspace, author Amelia Moseley will be here to meet the public. Participate in a Q&A session, and read an excerpt from her new book “Word Walkers: Stolen Secret.” Her debut novel is geared toward readers that may have focus disabilities and enjoy the Science-Fiction genre. Light refreshments will be served and copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing. “We are really excited about this visit because Amelia is a fresh new voice in the fantasy genre,” said Adult Event Coordinator Stacy Prather. “She found us and reached out to visit, which is pretty cool given that she lives in Colorado. She will have an interactive Q&A session, and will discuss and share tips on how the book publishing process happens. She will share her own literary journey to hopefully help anyone in attendance who wants to start their own journey.”
Thursday, October 24th at 12:00 p.m. in the Makerspace, PPL will host an Estate Planning Workshop. Do you have an estate? Just about everyone does, whether they realize it or not. Your estate is an amalgamation of everything you own – your home, car, bank accounts, other real estate you may own, investments, insurance policies/beneficiaries, furniture, personal possessions…it can be a lot! No matter how grand of a scale, everyone has an estate of some size…none of which can be taken with you when you pass. That is why the law office of Timothy J. Murphy is holding this hour-long estate planning event – for free! There is no sign-up for this event, just stop in and start your planning! “PPL is happy to host this workshop!” said Prather. “Estate planning is one of those things that many people are unaware of until it is too late.”
At 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th, PPL is hosting “Plan, Prepare, Present!” in the Makerspace. Why should holidays and/or birthdays be stressful? Join speaker and motivator, Jan Houin, for this free class that will teach you steps and solutions for hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthday, and other holiday events in your own home – stress free! Please sign-up in advance at the Adult Circulation Desk to reserve your spot for this class, as space is limited. “Jan has a love for planning and entertaining,” said Prather. “She is very excited to come share her knowledge of the basic steps you can employ at home to take your parties and holiday celebrations to the next level.”
See you at the library throughout October!
