More exciting changes are coming to the Plymouth Public Library!
Soon, your online search for library materials will look different. A lot of work to make the switch has already been done by library staff behind the scenes, with more to come throughout the month of October. The new system – called TLC (The Library Company) – “goes live” on Monday, November 9th. PPL will be closed for staff training on that day.
PPL is excited to debut the new system to our patrons. “There will be links on our website (www.MyPlymouthLibrary.org) for patrons to look up items just as before, with an added bonus of a specific link to a fun and interactive page for children’s materials,” said Cindy Clough, Adult Services Supervisor at PPL. “The new system is user-friendly, and very visually appealing. The design is colorful, and will provide patrons a fun and easy way to find items.”
An important bit of information for patrons: if you have reading history enabled on your current account, it will not carry over from our current system to TLC.
“Unfortunately, reading histories cannot be carried over to the new system,” said Clough. “However, library staff can turn on reading history right away with the new system, and give patrons a fresh start. If you have reading history currently enabled, because you like to track what you have read, you will need to either back it up or print it out in order to keep it.”
Once up and running, patrons will be able to look up items from home, log in to their records to place holds or renew items, and do other things just as easily as they could in the past.
“We are very excited to make the change to TLC,” said Clough. “We hope that patrons embrace the change and find the new system appealing and easy to use!”
See you at the library!
